From Year 9
Electives are in full swing for our Year 9s, with Food Technology, Discover Design and Art 2D taking centre stage in this week’s photos. From the buzz of busy kitchens to designs and artwork taking shape, students are leaning into creativity, problem-solving and teamwork. Engagement is high and the smiles say it all, these subjects are giving students room to experiment, learn from feedback and celebrate progress. The electives in Year 9 create new opportunities for students to discover their strengths, stretch their thinking and have fun while building real-world skills. We’re proud of the way they’re taking ownership of their learning and supporting one another.
Every success, big or small, boosts confidence for the term ahead!

Learning Highlight
In Food Technology this semester, we welcomed our next group of Year 9 students into the Food Technology kitchen! Students have quickly settled in, enjoying the chance to refresh their cooking skills from last year in year 8 and are enjoying the unit, Foods Around the World.
We have begun our journey with Italian cuisine, indulging in pasta tastings, perfecting sauce making, and even rolling and shaping our own gnocchi! Before we wrap up this delicious cuisine and move onto another part of the world, we have an exciting excursion to Il Mercato Centrale next week to immerse ourselves in authentic Italian food culture.
