From Year 8
As we have settled into semester 2 this year, there have already been lots of results to be celebrating!
Firstly, on the 4th of August, the ACS Public Speaking Competition, held at Aitken College led to a successful night: Podium finishes in the junior divisions include Anirudh Palya Raghu (Year 8) 3rd place. Congratulations must also go to the Intermediate ACS Soccer Boys B and D teams who will be participating in the semi-finals next week!
I would also like to take this time to welcome our new students; Matthew in 8B and Edward 8C who have joined us this term. We hope you have settled well into your journey at St ¹ū¶³APP, and I look forward to seeing you move through your journey here.
Learning update: Art ā Ceramics
In Year 8 Art, students are currently working on their ceramicās unit. 8E have been creating mood boards and sketching out images of design ideas for their mug. With inspiration from animals, they like. We look forward to seeing their finished results at the end of the term.
Science Week
On Wednesday lunchtime, students participated in a range of science activities to celebrate Science Week. Students created a galaxy using cotton balls, food colouring and glitter. The students second activity was making a lava lamp using oil, water, Alka-Seltzer tablet and food colouring. The tablets react with water to produce carbon dioxide gas, which creates bubbles that carry colored water up through the oil, mimicking the motion of a lava lamp.
It was great to see several of the Year 8 students participating in the activities! And the results turned out even better!
